This ancient pound will not fall

This ancient pound will not fall.

By Curt Vaughn

Taking walks in the cool evening mist around the lakes of present, past, and future tense. With graceful and cautious yellow billed feathered warriors on the brown and gold covered secret forest under the eternal but every changing night sky. You hear and see rumbling waters of nature and man glisten like candles in the wind. Do not dismiss your muse because of man, for the warriors have not, they have adapted but still keep their ancient ways and so must you. Keep to the warrior’s path and they will challenge you and accept you into their revered society if you can show them you are worthy of their featured and wondering ways.  The rain never stops in their ancient lake it comes from the trees and the water and gives life to all who follow it and you will find the red billed feathered chief’s of old who can show you the future and the path you must take.  Keep on going and the ancient pound will never fall.

Excuse Me,

Key Master

Key Master
By Curt Vaughn

The familiar key-master thieve comes like the loud up stairs neighbor.   Oh why do I give her my keys every time and why do I want to give her my whole electrical panel. Especially when I know she's just here to turn on the switch she needs and then turn it right off, once she has finished shopping on credit in my attic of home made meals.  I put flypaper out to catch her but her wings are too strong and my decor is to out if style.   I would still like to have her over to redecorate my light bulbs maybe we can get them to come on at the same time.  I have finally lost our watch do to my over eagerness to hold on to it so tight, it has slipped out of my hand and out of our sights, I hope the key master finds it one day and returns to give me a bracelet of time from the past.

Natures Path

Natures Path
By Curt Vaughn

The fire burns the new leaf sky under a blanket of fireflies.  While we the trees converse through winds of the new dawn until the new sunset brings rolling rocks to our roots.  After we have eaten the rays and sampled the rivers of our youth, what wisdom have we passed from branch to branch?  And what new paths through the forest have we made?  Will we go wandering or shall we stay in our already rich and fertile soil that does not change and can be explained.  Let’s cast off the dead branches and grow new ones and surround us with the fresh foliage of the spring of happiness.  And let’s find contentment with the wild animals that nibble at our feet and pass the dinner plates of sharing to them and all that come along our path.  For the wildfires of time could come at anytime for one leaf, one tree, or even the entire forest. The Trees do not make nature it self but the knowledge that moves with the wind, water, and rocks along each path connects us as long we keep exploring the known, and unknown paths.  And do not let the paths disappear under the moss of nature as we know it can not be loss, in this you can always find your bright sky and smile back at it and laugh for a while.

Where Ducks go to Ponder

Where Ducks go to Ponder

By Curt Vaughn

I wonder if dogs don’t dream then why do they sleep all day, maybe that is why because they have no dreams to try to achieve for the day or maybe they are just trying really hard to dream or the even remember there dreams like I do, At least when they get up in the middle of the night to use the restroom they don’t have to navigate very far like I do that is if they live outside of course.

When I walk down my office hall I can not shake the feeling that I will run into someone with one of those large stacks of paper like in the movies causing them to scatter all over the floor like a paper bomb, that’s why I guess they invented email just for me.  But, I do almost run into people all the time, never with papers just that shock thank goodness that massive guy did not knock me down.  And then there is the awkward dance to see who will go which way, sometimes I just want to pick them up like a doll and move them but I am patient and I stay till the last dance.

Where do ducks go to ponder, do they have deep thoughts and intense discussions on society, culture, art, and the universe.  I hear them squawking off in the distance sometimes wondering if they are just warning each other or calling one another.   Yet I never see them so it makes me think they are in some kind of heated discussion far away where they do not wish to be found.  Maybe they are talking about humans or me in general.  I might just not order the duck next time I eat Chinese just to be safe.

If there are ice cream trucks why are there not cake, pie, or milk shake trucks?  The milk shake seems to me like it would be the easiest you don’t even need to buy a mixer just head over a couple of speed bumps at full speed and there you go.  Maybe it’s the health food craze, that’s all we need the carrot or broccoli truck.  You show up with one of those trucks at a playground, and then you’ll have a riot on your hands.  And why do Ice Cream trucks have to go so fast down the street, by the time I am out the door there 6 houses down, I guess they want you to exercise for better health by running.

Is an escalator considered a set of stairs when it is not working? And what is with those flat moving paths, I don’t know what you call them but I call them from here to their lazy movers for when I am to lazy to walk.  I guess the escalator would be to climb from here to their lazy movers for when I am too lazy to climb a set of stairs.  I would take the stairs at work but they are for emergencies only plus I am on the 18th floor and arriving 4 hours
late would be bad.  If I slide down the big banister at the office is that considered taking the stairs.  I guess I could try I just hope I don’t run into someone and create a paper bomb
