Breathless Deep Dark Ocean on the Horizon
By
Curt Vaughn
I
see a girl dive in without even thinking into the deep dark ocean and I start to loose my breath with one glance at
her. I
begin running after her not worrying about my breath or my past.
I
see her off the shore towards the horizon and
dive in head first with out giving it a second thought
or ever even looking back.
I
see her now below me in the water swimming downwards and towards the horizon. I feel my
breath slowing even more. I continue swimming after her unaware
what I am swimming towards or leaving behind.
I
see her navigating rough waters and an ever-changing current
And
though this would normally change my course I
keep following anyways to test the same trials she is going through.
I
see her passing through the difficult swim with grace and dignity.
I
feel more air leaving my body and my chest getting tighter. I press
onward through the pain and difficult circumstances as she did.
I
see her swimming deeper and deeper into the dark unknown.
I
feel air jetting out of my body at an alarming rate. I keep swimming unconcerned about what
awaits us in the dark unknown.
I
see her going faster and faster never stopping, like
she knows in the darkness what she is swimming towards. Is it the bottom I think, what could
await us in the deep dark bottom of an endless ocean?
I
see her swimming with such passion now as if we are near her finale goal. I feel the
last breaths I have leaving my body and my lungs starting to crumble. I swim
like a mad man now not caring about anything other than catching up to her.
I
see a light now and we are both swimming towards it.
I
wonder if am I dreaming or is this some kind of wonderful paradise at the bottom of this endless dark deep ocean.
I
see her swim into the light and I swim along side her.
I
feel my lungs disappear and my body go breathless as she takes my breath away. We swim together and realize we have been
swimming together and with everyone this entire time in this endless shallow
deep light ocean of the universe
I
see her in the light and I realize it is the horizon, and that we were never
swimming towards the bottom because there is no bottom just an endless ocean of
love.
